In the space navigation jargon, the term “flyby” indicates the flight that a spacecraft
makes passing close to a planet in order to modify its route towards the final destination,
obtaining a significant energy saving. The name “flyby” then identifies the role
of “value-added provider” played by the company towards its customers, stressing
its contribution in giving them a boost into new and challenging trajectories towards
success.
Through the passion for applied research which livens up the company, Flyby develops
innovative solutions which contribute to fill the gap which often exists between
the scientific activities of research centres and the emerging needs of industries
and institutions.
Instruments
Flyby manufactures and sells electro-optical systems for spectral remote sensing
in the UV-VIS-NIR range, to measure, for example, solar and artificial radiation,
atmospheric components, marine components, soil albedo. The instruments have been
intensively tested in the framework of R&D projects in collaboration with research
institutes also of European level (e.g. CNR-IFAC, National Research Council – Institute
of Applied Physics).
Services
Besides producing and selling optical measuring instruments, Flyby offers peculiar
value-added services, which provide for information supply to the final user exploiting
remotely sensed optical data from different sources (airborne, satellite, in-situ
data), processed by means of specifically developed algorithms and systems .
GIS and webGIS technologies are used for the development of Flyby’s services, together
with GPS positioning systems for accurate geolocation of in-situ measurements and
for their fusion with remote sensing environmental data.
